DIY Mini Milk Cap Accordion Books (by Monica Holtslaw)
Milk caps are like a perfect little slice of vintage pie. Each one reminds me of an intricate poster and what better to do than find two that match and sandwich a special note in between! I’ve started turning my growing collection of vintage milk caps into a delightfully functional series called Milk Mail. Once you have your note written just put it in it’s milk mailer and send it on its way!

Received this (top photo) in the mail from an old student.
Of course he’s getting a handwritten thank you note, in a handmade, upcycled envelope.

This handmade postcard came from an 8-year old from Moscow :-)
There was a little hand stitched felt “cookie” as well, to which I will attach a string to hang on the Christmas tree.

DIY Vintage Postcard Calendar Journal (by designsponge)
Growing up, I kept a daily journal. I always enjoyed looking back at previous entries to see what had changed over the course of a year. These days, I can’t seem to find the time to journal, but I do try to jot down a little note from each day on my perpetual calendar/journal. The idea is very simple — flip to the current date and at the end of the day, write down something that happened. Some days it is big things like “Annie took her first steps.” Other days it is small, like “needed more than one cup of coffee this morning.”
The first year is the least rewarding, but I imagine that in 10 years, it will be a daily treat to be reminded of what happened on that date over the last decade. I think these would make great gifts this season, not only for adults but also for older kids, baby showers, retirement parties, wedding showers and more. Enjoy!

Recycling an old Georgia O’Keefe calendar (from 2008 or something).
Cut photos, glue onto card stock.
Use for snail mail, or give to friends who appreciate it.
